Taste of Soul LA 2022
by Nia Asante
Where else can one find all in one place skate boarders and grandmothers; toddlers and teachers; ball players and bakers; concert goers and church members; ministers and musicians and oh yeah, THE BEST SOUL FOOD IN LA!?
No better place does all this come together with some of the most phenomenal family fun. Nowhere else but one of the most legendary streets in the USA, Crenshaw Blvd, in Los Angeles, CA during the electric and eclectic annual Taste Of Soul Festival! Annually in October, TOS is sponsored by the oldest black newspaper still in operation in the US. The illustrious LA Sentinel and its founder, Mr. Danny Bakewell, put on this fabulous event to emphasize the love in LA’s Black community.
This is a family fun-filled extravaganza that brings together all aspects of a community that you can imagine. Showcasing Black business from art, music and fashion, real estate, you name it! To the best African American cuisine you will find on the West Coast all in one place for one day every year. But that’s not all…
This year marks the 17th festival. And new this year, it was simulcast on CBSLA! Pat Harvey and her news colleagues covered all the action starting at 9 am and the festival started at 10 am and ended at 7 pm.
Cloudy skies and early morning rain did not deter people from attending.
