People’s Justice & Peace Convention – 7-9:30pm
Cultural performances and academic and author Michael Eric Dyson will kickoff this 3 day gathering, July 15-17. Representatives of justice, peace, environmental and democracy groups will come together the weekend before the RNC. The Convention will include a diversity of voices and experiences that will be absent at the RNC which transcends any one political party or perspective. Our purpose is to lift up issues and problems that we believe the RNC will either ignore or not genuinely address AND to develop collectively agreed to solutions that we feel will achieve just, nonviolent, democratic and sustainable results. We plan to present our “People’s Platform” of Planks to both the RNC in Cleveland and a week later to the DNC in Philadelphia. It’s our hope that this gathering will further the commitment and energy toward one or more coordinated diverse, mass, nationwide, nonviolent, democratic and grassroots-based social movements for fundamental change that is not connected to any single organization or political party.
The Convention will take place July 15 and 16 at Olivet Church, but will shift to the Masonic Auditorium, 3615 Euclid Ave Cleveland, Oh 44115, on Sunday. Details soon on specific times and schedules for Saturday and Sunday. Contact us: peoplesconvention2016@gmail.com httpss://www.facebook.com/pjpc2016
