KPFK LOCAL STATION BOARD ELECTION IN-PROGRESS
by Chance McKee, KPFK Local Election Supervisor

KPFK, a listener-sponsored station of Pacifica Foundation Radio, has begun the election process for its 2016 Local Station Board.

The nomination process began on June 1, 2016 at 9:00 am PST and closed on June 30, 2016 at 9:00 pm PST. There are currently three Staff and nine Listener-Sponsor positions up for election.

Listener-Sponsor delegates must have contributed a minimum of $25 to KPFK, or volunteered a minimum of three (3) hours to KPFK between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016 at 9:00 pm PST.

Staff delegates are defined as any non-management, full-time or part-time paid employee of KPFK or any volunteer or unpaid staff member of KPFK who has worked a minimum of 30 hours under management supervision in the preceding 3 months, April 1-June 30, 2016.

All prospective candidates are subject to the Fair Campaign Provisions (FCP) once they download or request a Candidate Nomination Packet.

More information regarding the election process, as well as a comprehensive list of candidate requirements, can be found at elections.pacifica.org (also linked to https://www.kpfk.org).

Ballots will be mailed out for receipt by August 15. Online voting begins on August 15, 2016 and will end on September 30, 2016 at 11:59 pm PST. That is also the return date for paper ballots. Listeners are urged to use the e-voting option as a way to reduce the costs of the election.
