New Day's Pacifica Restructure - Trick or Treat? by Pacifica Fightback Why is democracy under attack at Pacifica and in the US? Is the NDP Petition a solution or part of the problem? There is a new Bylaws petition to restructure Pacifica circulating. New Day Pacifica (NDP)  tried to scare people into eliminating democracy and diversity at Pacifica by raising the specter [...]

Mumia Abu-Jamal: Disaster at the Heart of Empire

Disaster at the Heart of Empire © 2020 by Mumia Abu-Jamal, 10/14/20   As Americans slink toward the elections, a sense of disquiet haunts the land.   It's a feeling of heightened caution, the shadow of fear radiating from a proto-fascist government, one riddled with disease, the fruit not just of the coronavirus, but of unease, unwellness, a mind burdened by weight.   This must be what fascism feels like: Deep, gnawing distrust of government institutions, the scent of corruption, born of crony capitalism, where everything and [...]

THE HIDDEN CRISIS IN AMERICA’S JAILS—DYING INSIDE

https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/usa-jails-deaths/ “A lot of people are dying, and they've never been sentenced, and that's obviously a huge problem.” A Reuters investigation has documented thousands of in-custody death in jails, in most cases prior to trial and conviction. This should be a huge national scandal and a high-priority topic in the election, but it isn't. Here's the Justice Dept. memo in which AG Jeff Sessions ordered Trump's DOJ to stop seeking jail reform consent decrees: https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/1109621/download Watch the disturbing, graphic video… https://queso.prod.reuters.tv/rest/v2/queso/static/id/RCV8UH2/mp4 Rare scrutiny shows that deaths in [...]
