What the Crap is Happening?

By John Johnson

(I wrote this about Sept. 20)

The last time we talked, the Democrats were starting their convention and the Republicans were about too.

Obama did give an inspiring acceptance speech but as usual it was short on specifics and what concrete programs he wants from his administration.

It was interesting that during the convention, lobbyists and corporate interest threw very private parties for delegates.  So private that members of the media were arrested for just standing outside trying to get interviews.

The Republican convention was a bit more eventful.  It started with police, FBI and Home Security holding alternative media members at gun point for hours, I guess just for the fun of it.  Then later the same arrested alternative media members as they tried to cover the brutally attacked demonstrations, most notably Amy Goodman of Democracy Now (charges against her were later dropped).

Of course the big news was the appointment of right-wing radical - moose and wolf killer - witch hunter - constant liar - the cipher Sarah Palin, which I guess proves the Republicans do have a sense of humor.

As we go to press this month the US economy is on the verge of collapse.  Nothing really new here, just the latest effort of some elements to win over the bodies of others.  The current situation is in part traced back to Reagan, with the trickle down theory and the wholesale shipping of jobs to lower waged countries.

Those benefiting under Bush have been the defense and multi-national contractor industries, with a trillion dollars handed over to them, the excuse being the total destruction of one of the oldest civilizations, Iraq,  and of course his old pals in the oil industries.  And during this time the thieves on Wall Street were working hard to manipulate the financial markets to make themselves billions and billions.  They got so greedy and crooked they started to devour the boxes they were living in.  The current bail out is to insure they keep their homes, while millions of others lose theirs.  A problem is a majority of people seem to be against it,  McCain and Republicans have implied they may be against it, while (cowardly, brain dead and complicit ) Democrats are being stampeded to voting for it  - the Iraq War and Patriot Act d‚j… vu all over again.

One of the ideas of this collapse and bailout is to set up the next administration.  If its a Democrat, he will inherit an "emergency" and an empty shell of a government and economy and won't be able to do much but put some bandaids on.  If its a Republican he will start to privatize Social Security and cut most government programs and do away with any still existing regulations on corporate structures.

As we go to press John McCain said he was suspending his campaign to deal with the economic crisis in Washington and asked Obama to do the same.  If the Dems and Obama have any sense they would tell him to fuck himself.

If you aren't frightened out of your shoes and still care,  watch  for the next month  efforts of Republicans to fix the vote.  Already they are doing things like sending out phony letters telling Democrats to send their absentee ballots to a false address.  Procedures in many states are being set up to disqualify Democrats on phony grounds. Voting machines can still be manipulated.  So far the "official" Democratic Party has not being doing much, we know about, to combat this.

To find out more go out and rent one of my favorite movies "Blair Witch Project".  Other than that, BOO (Marr Nealon's dog), happy Halloween.

Please Mark Farjeon article.  A good friend of mind Mark passed on to his next challenge.  He was really a good guy.
